18th Century and A Modest Proposal

With industrialization, literature was lost its importance. Attentions turned to poor people and children. A Modest Proposal is really good criticism. It is a kind of irony at the same time. If you don't know, you think that the proposal is true. Now I try to write a proposal for you. Now, there are so many prohibition. This prohibition prevents our freedom.
There should be home jails, but in this jail, there are so many things that you need. So, you don't need to go to outside. For example, you have television, DVD player, shower and bathtub, a big bed and also you have an animal. You can see beach from your window. You have computer and internet, but some websites are closed. Somebody who forced to stay you in this house, wants to you like him/her. Why don't we stay in this jail house? It is really big comfort, you have whatever you want. So you can stay at home forever, but what about your freedom?

Paradise Lost, John Dryden, Restoration Period

Paradise Lost draw my attention. Religion is a big question in my head. My questions begin with "why" question. "Why are we created?", "If God knows every movement of us, why we have choices?". Paradise Lost isn't a book just for Christians, it is also same for Muslims. So we can say for all religions, firstly they believe the same story.

In the lesson, I really like the question of our teacher about the religion. We tried to examined our knowledge of our religion. It was quite difficult for us. We couldn't find the answer. But I wish that this kind of argumentation was should be done talking just English not Turkish.

The Restoration and the Puritans

The theory of "Puritans" is quite new subject for me. I learned from our lessons that it is connected with religion. The word also comes from "purity". The Puritans rejected Christian celebrations and also other celebrations. They had district moral principles.
The Puritans remind me of Protestants. That's why their church without splendidness. They are both objected decoration in their church. Even though The Puritanism is different communion, it refers with Protestantism. According to some sources The Puritanism is a kind of Protestantism.

Metaphysical Poets - John Donne

John Donne was a  metaphysical poet in England and also he was a cleric in the church. It is strange for me that John Donne was also a cleric and wrote poems using erotic metaphor. Especially, The Flea is a good example for it. In this poem, John Donne uses the conceit of a flea.
Not only John Donne but also the other metaphysical poets rely on wit. They connect totally different things together, using wit. They use unusual images and there is a relationship between philosophy. Maybe that's why their poems are difficult to understand for us. Metaphysical poets' poems are about physical love. They use intelligence and emotions together when they write about love.
